Remix of Gooves
To begin with, I wanted to keep the rhythm because I love beats like this, and I downloaded the majority of the Packs from ableton.com to see what fits best with the provided clips. I kept it in Em but used its relative key, G major, in my bridge and I challenged myself to use a song form that I haven’t used before, in this case I started off with the verse, then chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, and chorus with a fadeout. The original tempo was 90bpm but I raised it to 95bpm to match the E-Piano Chords, which is 95bpm and originally in D minor but I utilized the Pitch Shifter and Tuner to transpose the key into G major to go with the added G major Soft Tremolo Room Guitar that is created by playing with the notes from the Em Erik Guitar 02 after copying the clip into a MIDI track as a melody. I kept the idea of having pauses in the drum track that plays throughout the entire remix. For the chorus, I used the Ostinato Intriguing Forest G Major 95bpm MIDI clip in the Short Staccato – String Quartet instrument with the Vocal Chop Loop, Erik Jackson 90_Emin Chords and Bass Plucks EJ but I moved the Erik Guitar 02 Em to the verse with clips I cut from the bass along with the Sliced Melodies Veronica & Philipp (Root E) loop. The bridge has the G major Soft Tremolo Room Guitar with the Ballistic Boom instrument and E-Piano Chord Pattern Dmin 95bpm (transposed to G major). I played with the individual parameters and effects within the instrument’s Map function, and I used audio effects like Choruses, Amps, EQs, and compressors to put each track in a similar space. I also used a De-esser on the Vocal Chop Loop and a Thin Mover Auto Filter on the Erik Guitar, along with the previously mentioned Pitch Shifter and Tuner on the E-Piano Chord Pattern. Automation was used to raise the track volume at the beginning of the Drums and to raise the volume on the Ballistic Boom for the pause in the bridge. I used automation to pan the Short Staccato – String Quartet instrument and the Vocal Chop Loop as well. Lastly, I put a maximizer Minus Bar on the Master to set the ceiling.
Feelings in Paradise
This song is in the key of G major with a tempo of 100bpm and is a chill conga beat. For drums I placed a series of bongos and congas along with a Cabasa and Cascara. I added tambourine shakes with a delay in the verses along with my own recording of me clicking my tongue heard in the bridge. The melodies and chord progression was all MIDI clips from Ableton’s packs. I edited those clips by deleting, stretching, and shrinking some notes to have a little variation. The verse melody is a Voice Box pack clip and it is called A Day In The Country. The melody for the chorus is one of my favorites and it is called Phrase In the Left Field. The chord progression is from a guitar MIDI clip named Gt3 GitPop. For the bridge I made my own small melody using common G major chord progressions and I utilized the sound from the chorus melody. The verse bassline is the root key of the chord progression and the chorus and bridge basslines are from their individual melodies’s root key. I also used slight panning on the chorus melody.
