Drums/Percussion: I used a drum clip from Ableton called Gotta Feel Kit and split each part of the drums into their own track in my final mix. I recorded myself clapping my hands and shaking a container of rice for percussion using my Audio Technica AT2035 Condenser Microphone.
Bass: I used some of the top notes of my piano clip to create my bass line. The Sub Clicky present was used for the bass sound.
Guitar: I built my own pattern for the guitar using C# minor chords. The chord progression is i, iv, III, ii, i, ii, iv, V, iv, i, III, iv, V, III, iv, V. I applied the Acoustic Stings sound for my guitar.
Keyboard: I built my song around the C# minor Longing Piano clip from Ableton Live. I had to change the Broken Piano preset to the Grand Piano sound because the Broken Piano preset was out of phase.
Other Instruments: The top notes of the piano were also used to create chords for an ambient, vocal-like instrument. I utilized the Descending Dreams sound preset to make it sound like ad libs from a choir.
Lead Vocal: I sung all the lyrics of this song. I’m not a professional singer, so it took me a few weeks to get the vocals in the right key. I also had some trouble putting more confidence in my singing voice but had better luck after doing multiple takes.
Backing Vocals: I don’t exactly have any backing vocals, but I did layer my vocals with the same clip to add depth.
